Bert Lambert
Bert Lambert believes in helping horses. Like Dale he has learned through many years of practice that to help horses you have to be able to help people. Helping people is at the heart of Institute policy. Institute training emphasizes a working relationship with the horse. Practitioner ability to listen to the horse is paramount. Bert worked with horses and cattle at various ranches in the Western United States for 36 years before becoming an Equine Gnathological Practitioner. His ability to get along with a horse is to be admired. When it comes to teaching gnathological prophylaxis and equilibration on non sedated horses Bert is the best. He has been a certified practitioner for over 10 years. He worked with Dale teaching anatomy at the Academy of Equine Dentistry for over four years along with sponsoring field trips to various locations such as; Yellowstone Park, WY, Spanish Springs, CA, Soldier Meadows, NV, Horses With Heart, AZ and various Native American Tribes such as the Hualapai, Havasupi, Hopi, Navajo and Apache. When it comes to reading a horse and working on non sedated horses Dale says, “Bert is the best man I have ever seen.” The horse is at the heart of Institute training and Bert never waivers far from this position. Many years ago his popular thesis for advanced certification was written on dental variations between horses fed in confined situations versus range fed horses.
Dale Jeffrey BLOG: www.dalejeffrey-egti.blogspot.com
Dale has been in the equine dental business for over 30 years. He was the original founder of the IAEDT, Horse Dentistry and Bitting Journal and the Academy of Equine Dentistry. Although no longer affiliated with the Academy of Equine Dentistry he is proud of the fact that he has had something to do with the training of hundreds of the successful practitioners of today. Dale and his brother Lloyd own and operate World Wide Equine Inc., a company building over 300 quality equine dental instruments that are shipped to over 60 countries. Dale always wanted to help horses and found his niche as a practitioner, author, teacher and mentor. He is well traveled and has worked and lectured in many countries. He is the author of many published gnathological articles and six books on equine dentistry. His latest text, over five years in production, “Oral Health in Equidae” is a course text book covering fundamental equine gnathology. It is the text used by the Institute and several other popular equine dental schools. His primary goal is to help horses and the people who care for them by teaching the least abusive time tested gnathological methods.
Equine Gnathology Defined:
Equine gnathology is the study of masticatory systems, including their physiology, functional disturbances, and treatment. Because it is not part of veterinary medicine or dental school training, most is learned from experienced mentors. Gnathology is doing extremely accurate prophylaxis and equilibration, verifying the work as it progresses, applying all well founded gnathological principles, and rechecking the work continually. The heart of equine gnathology revolves around efficient comfortable mastication and optimum performance.
School Motto:
We believe in helping the horses of the world by teaching time tested gnathological methods to the people who love and care for them.

Fundamental Gnathological Methodology
No matter what your trade or craft a good foundation is imperative. The EGTI staff has been training using this perspective for over thirty years. We believe you have to ask each horse what their problems are treating every horse as an individual. It is the same with people. All are individuals. Instrumentation is then selected based on the individual needs of the horse and practitioner. Simple is usually best and often when things are not going right a good policy is to take something away. In other words use less, such as less pressure, less pain, less equipment, less instrumentation.
We attempt to teach using harmonious simple methods that emphasize getting along with each individual horse. Applying proper fundamental gnathological methodology through frequent visits always yields enhanced results. Enhanced results are reflected in less pain, improved condition and better performance.
All methods of prophylaxis and equilibration taught at EGTI are time tested and proven. We use no more control over the horse than needed to accomplish any given task putting the horses best interest first and foremost.
We teach anatomy, biomechanical theory and physiology from a gnathological perspective. Our goal is to enhance the processes of deglutition (mastication and comminution) and performance. We do this for the most part with hand floats and no sedation. Any handy sort of person that gets along with horses will usually be doing a fair job of maintaining teeth by the end of the second week.
Our ranch based facility allows us to train small groups using more varried methods than most schools and the country environment suits students and horses. We have a large owner client base that is knowledgeable and familiar with our ability to help their horses. Our many happy customers are the result of years of good work, wise choices and exemplary behavior.
The greatest gift you can give a critter or human is the gift of a good example.
